I'm available for hire if you need a PI. Moncler was the only company in our luxury universe to offer insight into trading conditions, announcing that it did not expect sales to substantially recover before the second half of 2021.
After finishing the central exhibit, I moved on to Spazio Maiocchi, one of the city's hotspots for fashion and design. Right there was The Dune, an installation that included a mountain of red earth inspired by the torrid desert vistas of Santa Fe. Entering the installation, one found helmets, Texan boots, blankets, magazines - all a paraphernalia of authentic vintage pieces found and chosen in collaboration with Mask, a Santa Fe vintage shop, while, on the wall, there was a mix of Moncler garments hung together with vintage and collectible pieces. The idea for the format came from Palm Angels designer Francesco Ragazzi, as a tribute to American fashion and history, of which he is a lover and great enthusiast. I found the whole thing so enjoyable that I bought two garments, respectively from the www.monclersoutlets.com '60s and '70s, to add to my personal collection.
"I was really just trying to merge the DNA of Moncler and the Moncler Jacket DNA of Alyx," Williams tells me over the phone from Milan, where the collection launched earlier this week. "And to look at things that we do well, that they maybe haven't experimented with before." Which, well: ever since the collection first appeared, it was pretty clear that Williams had managed that merger successfully. "It feels good," he said. "It's real now! It's great to see people wearing it, and to see the Genius store full of all these pieces that we all worked so hard on."
